Argumentum ad chatgpt
Today, I want to introduce a new logical fallacy that I’ve named argumentum ad ChatGPT. This fallacy occurs when someone uses ChatGPT’s response as an argument and treats it as absolute truth.
ChatGPT has become the new ‘CNN’ — now people won’t believe something unless it’s on ChatGPT, just like they didn’t believe it back then unless it was on CNN. It’s ridiculous! I ask questions in groups (no matter the topic), and there’s always that one guy who responds with ChatGPT’s answer. Even if I say I’ve already asked ChatGPT, someone will still drop its response in the chat.
People have become lazy; they’ve stopped thinking for themselves, outsourcing that function to third parties. They don’t realize that ChatGPT makes absurd logical fallacies. For example, ask ChatGPT if a false dichotomy can exist between contrary terms. Instead of saying “no, it can’t,” it’ll list several terms that aren’t actually contrary and call that a false dichotomy.
Stop being so obsessed with ChatGPT and learn to think for yourself.
